In the morning the lawn in front of the Manor House still lies in the shade of the big tree. White gable, thatched roof, and nobody on the grass yet.

At eleven the tasting room in the Manor House opens. Laborie goes back to a Huguenot farm of the Taillefert family; 1691 is the year usually given, while the estate only says "over 300 years ago". The Laborie label now belongs to KWV, whose cellar complex lies just over a kilometre away as the crow flies. Laborie is known for Cap Classique.

Manor House

Laborie is more country estate than tasting room. There are two restaurants, Stoep and Suzanne, a boutique hotel called Vineyard Village, the Healing Earth spa and a Farm Grocer. Platters to go with your tasting cost R220 to R398 (as of September 2026). Children get their own pairing for R75. If you went to KWV first, you will have met Laborie already: the Emporium pours its Cap Classique with macarons.
